Magnetic fluid refers to the highly uniform dispersion of magnetic nanoparticles in the carrier liquid after being coated or modified by surfactants to form a stable and functional colloidal solution. It is also known as ferromagnetic fluid. Namely，magnetic fluid is a stable colloidal liquid composed of magnetic solid particles with a diameter of nanometers, base carrier liquid (also called media) and interface active agent. This magnetic fluid has no magnetic attraction in a static state but exhibits magnetism when an external magnetic field is applied. Magnetic fluid is a new type of liquid functional material, which has both the magnetic properties of solid materials and the fluidity of liquid materials, as well as the special properties of light, heat, magnetism and so on.Therefore, it has high application value, and the application fields are mainly related to aerospace, machinery, electronics, energy, chemical industry, metalurgia, medical treatment, etc., and its application fields are constantly expanding. It can be employed in magnetic fluid sealing, magnetic fluid lubrication, magnetic fluid dampers, magnetic fluid grinding, and magnetic fluid flotation.
