Description

Proteinase K is a highly active protease of the chymotrypsin class, purified from Candida albicans Limber (tirtirachium album limber), used for the general degradation of proteins in biological samples. The enzyme has two ca2+ binding sites, which are at some distance from the active centre of the enzyme and are not directly related to the catalytic mechanism. However, if ca2+ is removed from the enzyme, about 80% of the catalytic activity is lost due to the remote structural changes that occur, but its remaining activity is usually sufficient to degrade proteins that contaminate acid products in general.

Proteinase K has a wide range of uses, the main applications include: medical and basic research fields; genetic diagnostic kits; genomic DNA extraction kits; RNA extraction kits to remove the nuclease in the preparation of DNA and RNA; In addition, it is also used in the leather industry (leather softening and refining, hair removal and softening, silk degelatinisation) the preparation of chromosomal DNA for pulse electrophoresis; the extraction of non-protein components in tissues; food and brewing industries: meat tenderisation, wine clarification; washing industry: enzyme laundry detergent, laundry detergent, etc. are also used. In addition, it is also used in: leather industry (leather softening and refinement, hair removal and softening, silk degumming); preparation of chromosomal DNA for pulse electrophoresis; extraction of non-protein components from tissues, degradation of protein-containing impurities; food and brewing industry: meat tenderisation, clarification of wines; and in the washing industry: enzyme-containing laundry detergents and liquid detergents.

Storage and use

The expiry date is 24 months under dry powder conditions and 12 months at -20°C in liquid form. Customers need to store at -20°C after dissolving with buffer. After dissolving, it is better to divide into several portions for convenience and practicality to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. If it needs to be placed in 2℃-8℃ environment, after more than 3 days, it is recommended to filter and decontaminate or add bacteriostatic agent such as 0.3% azide Na to prevent microbial contamination.

Dilution Buffer

Dissolve to a working concentration of 20mg/ml using 20mM Tris-HCL buffer (pH 7.5) as required.
